CANCELLATION/ REFUND POLICY

We reserve the right to cancel classes due to low registration or extreme instances of dangerous weather.  We reserve the right to cancel your sailing class as late as 24 hours before class time and date. Refunds will be issued if we cancel for those reasons or reasons stated below .  We also reserve the right to reschedule events due to foul weather in instances of no wind/excessive heat or excessive rain that would make the event uncomfortable for attendees who are expecting to enjoy the event they paid for.  In this situation we will reschedule the event within the current season.  If you are unable to attend the rescheduled event during the current season we will issue a refund at the end of the season, otherwise you will be offered a similar or the same event on various dates throughout the season. We offer a wide variety of events so you may transfer your payment to another class or event if we must reschedule. We can't control the weather and hope you realize that we do the best we can to accommodate all.  We want to sail with you and enjoy our time on the water!

 

No Refunds are issued (exceptions noted below). Once you have secured your class or appointment time, we keep that spot for you and turn away all other clients who request it. In order for us to be able to put your spot back on the market and offer it to other clients, we need the following:

 

FOR LESSONS, WORKSHOPS OR CLINICS: 

A minimum of 1 week notice from you in the event of cancellation. If you do not give appropriate notice, you will not receive a refund or another appointment.  If you DO give us at least 1 week notice, you will incur no monetary penalty for canceling, and you will be able to *reschedule your appointment without having to pay again.  Otherwise, the cancellation fee is 50% of the cost of the lesson, workshop or clinic, for each person.

 

FOR 2 TO 5 DAY CLASSES: 

Prior to 4 weeks of your course start date you may either transfer to another course start date during the same sailing season or pay a $200 cancellation fee for courses. Within 4 weeks of course start date no refunds are issued.  If you want to reschedule to another class we will allow you to change classes if minimum number of students are registered for the original class and if there is room in another class for you.  By submitting the registration form you agree to the cancellation terms.

 

FOR CHARTERS: 

Cancellation for charters must be given 1 week in advance of charter date.  Customers who do not give one week notice will pay 50% the charter total as a cancellation fee.  Refunds will be issued if you cancel less than one week before charter.  Rescheduling:  If you reschedule at least one week before charter you will pay no fee, less than one week:  $50 change fee.  We reserve the right to cancel charters due to inclement weather and/or charters that do not meet minimum passenger requirements (2 minimum for charter) and we will refund payment. 


If you give less than the notice stated in the above terms, you are financially responsible for the appointment/class, and will not be able to reschedule without paying for another appointment/class.


All cancellations must be stated via telephone (***DO NOT rely on email for cancellation***) or snail mail (delivered in time stated above, before class time). We can be reached by the following:

If you cannot reach us in person or by phone, you can leave a detailed voicemail with your full name, date, time and details. We will confirm receipt of your message immediately.  If you do not hear from us, please contact us again to confirm. If you would like your cancellation to be documented you can ALSO send an email noting the course/lesson date and time for which you were originally scheduled.  EMAIL ONLY IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE FORM OF CANCELLATION NOTICE, but only a secondary form of a documented cancellation. 


We apologize for having to take such a hard stand on the refund/cancellation policy, but the weather is unpredictable and sometimes ruins what we've set out to do....and also because some people are unfortunately very flaky and make appointments that they don't take seriously. For those of you who have graciously accepted and understood the terms of the original policy stating that "No refunds are issued, only rescheduling" please understand this was not meant for you and thank you for adhering to our policies without complaint.

Your class or lesson registration will not be complete unless you agree to these terms.  By completing registration you agree that you've read and understand our cancellation policy.
