Learn what each channel is used for
If you have a VHF Radio (Very High Frequency),
used on most boats, you should monitor the local weather from the
National Weather Service before departing (EACH TIME). You can
monitor weather on the WX channel #6 162.500 MHZ
for the Ithaca area. The weather outlook is updated every 3-6
hours and a report is given from Ithaca, Cortland, Elmira, Binghamton,
Buffalo, Rochester - Sea conditions given for the Finger Lakes, Lake
Ontario and Oneida Lake. You will hear of any
HAZARDOUS WEATHER expected in the
areas noted within the next few hours.

4th-7th. Remaining fair.
8th-11th. Big thunderstorms rumble
across Pennsylvania, New York and rest of Northeast. Thunderstorms
in New York threaten Belmont Stakes.
12th-15th. Showery weather spreads
rapidly in from west; thunderstorms for Mid-Atlantic region, then
clearing.
16th-19th. Pleasant, tranquil.
20th-23rd. Dangerous thunderstorms,
possible hail, high winds, a tornado or two across New England.
Big thunderstorms Mid-Atlantic States.
24th-27th. A hot spell, many 90s and
even a 100 or two.
28th-30th. Scattered showers
Mid-Atlantic region. Thundery up through New England, then turning
